Charlottesville Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee Notes from November 1st,, 2018 5:00 PM- 7:00 PM NDS Conference Room, 2nd Floor City Hall Meeting Attendees: Cort Hammond Sarah Littlefield Stephen Bach Peter Krebs Carl Schwarz Peter Ohlms Ned Michie Dave Stackhouse Niko Test Lena Seville Frank Deviney Amanda Poncy *Meeting opened with a moment of silence for the pedestrian who was killed by a vehicle in the parking lot of Jack n’ Jill. Old Business: 5:00 CIP Budget Discussion Amanda opened up the meeting with an update on changes to the previously scheduled CIP public meetings. The Budget Office is working to reschedule. Peter highlighted a new opportunity for people to stay involved in biking and walking advocacy - The Bike/Ped Advocacy Social meets periodically and BPAC is on the invitation list. New Business: 5:15 Standards and Design Manual City Council requested additional input on the Standards and Design Manual, which serves as the City’s Standards for development. Carl facilitated the conversation surrounding coordination of processing feedback from BPAC and approach to next steps. BPAC was in agreement that members will provide an overview the draft and generate observations, questions, and comments. Cort volunteered to create an online table spreadsheet for feedback from members. The spreadsheet will be open for comments until November 19th, leaving a two week window before the December BPAC meeting for members to view comments and provide feedback. When providing comments, individual should provide the reference chapter, text, desired language alteration, and any other relevant info. Making note of typos was also requested. The discussion continued over manual content and relationship to other standards, such as the MUTCD. The chapters advised for review are: 3, 4, 8, 10, 11, 12.
