There was discussion over the existing infrastructure and the planned changes. Features new and coming infrastructure  The route starts at the Downtown Transit Station and goes east on Water St. o Chris Gensic received a grant to extend the Coal Tower Trail from its current location to the mid-block crossing at Lexis Nexis  Travel along Coal Tower Trail to Carlton Road. Right on Carlton Road to Carlton Ave. o The group discussed need for a connection on Carlton Rd.  Right on Carlton Ave to Franklin St. o Carlton Ave – Striping plans would add a bike lane toward Sunrise development, but concern about loss of on-street parking is a challenge. o Franklin St. Sidewalk design continuing to Nassau St. (CDBG Grant Opportunity). Due to roadway widths, sidewalk is narrower than preferred but still meets ADA  Left on Franklin St. to Market Street to the Rivanna Trail  Head North on Rivanna Trail to Free Bridge o At the Rivanna Trail crossing at River Rd/E. High st/Long Street, there is potential for additional ADA compliant trail head and pedestrian underpass to allow safe crossings at Long Street/250 Bypass. o There is also a need to cross E. High. Currently there is no pedestrian infrastructure. o VDOT is concerned that adding a pedestrian phase across Long Street/250Bypass would greatly increase congestion. o There was also discussion about how to safely connect the RTF to JWW trail.  One thought is to use Watson as alternate route to the 250 bypass  There was no consensus on a desired route. Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee May 2nd NDS conference Room 5-7pm  Rivanna Trail to Razor Wire o At the VFW Chris Gensic has easement to build trailhead to access Rivanna river and connect to RTF  River Road to Locust Avenue Commented [PA1]: I started describing the route/segments so that people who are reading this could follow along.
