The board discussed the Office and Retail Market Study that was presented to the board by HR&A, Inc. in August. The board concluded that in addition to other efforts to publicize the report that a copy of the study be sent directly to each member of the Charlottesville City Council with a memo outlining the concerns expressed by CEDA board members. Next, Mr. Engel gave the board a brief recap of a presentation he and the chair and vice- chair of the authority attended hosted the Central Virginia Partnership for Economic Development. The Louisa County Board of Supervisors is planning to develop a regional business park in the Shannon Hill area of Louisa County and is inviting other localities to join them. The project has the potential to be a GO VA project. Mr. Engel then discussed the status of the CvilleBioHub GO VA funds. The project was approved by CEDA and the GO VA board, and CvilleBioHub should be receiving the funds shortly. In addition, there are several other potential applications for GO VA funds that could come before the board possibly at the next scheduled meeting. Mr. Engel then asked Mr. Ness to give an update on the VJIP program. With the possibility of a state funding cut to the program, the Office of Economic Development is investigating other options to grow the match program to include other state funding sources The work session concluded at 1:29 pm.
