This program aims to assist low-income families, to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market. Since housing assistance is provided on behalf of the family or individual, participants are able to find their own housing, including single-family homes, townhouses and apartments. The CSRAP is not the same as the federally funded Housing Choice Voucher program. CRHA determines the amount of the monthly housing assistance payment to be paid to the owner based on 30 percent of monthly household income. CRHA has determined a maximum rental standard based on the number of individuals in the household according to CRHA’s Occupancy Standards. The family may not choose to rent a unit for more than the rental standard.
