                         City of Charlottesville Electoral Board
                                 Meeting of May 13, 2019


The meeting was called to order by the Chair at 8:35 am on Monday, May 13, 2019 in
the office of the Charlottesville General Registrar. Those present were Electoral Board
members Anne Hemenway (Chair), Jon Bright (Vice Chair) and Jim Nix (Secretary),
General Registrar Rosanna Bencoach, Election Manager Melissa Morton, Project
Assistant Joyce McKenney and Acting Deputy Registrar Jamie Virostko.

On a motion by the Chair, seconded by the Vice Chair, the agenda was approved
unanimously without change.

Public Comment

No members of the public were present for this meeting.

Discussion Items

In accordance with the directives in paragraph §2.2-3712(B) of the Code of Virginia the
Chair announced that a closed meeting for the purpose of interviewing candidates for
the position of General Registrar for the City of Charlottesville shall be held within fifteen
days of this date.

Other Business

The Registrar informed the Board that the new City Manager will be making the rounds
of the various City departments in the near future and she suggested that he be invited
to tour the nine City voting precincts on June 11 to familiarize him with our election
procedures and polling places and to meet our election officers. The Board members
agreed, and the Registrar was asked to extend to him a formal invitation and to prepare
a letter for signature by a Board member granting him access to polling places as a
neutral observer on June 11.

The next meeting of the Board will take place in the office of the Charlottesville General
Registrar at 5:45 pm on Tuesday, June 4, 2019
