RETIREMENT COMMISSION MINUTES

The Retirement Commission met on Wednesday, August 26, 2020. The following members were
present: Chris Cullinan, Jason Vandever, Scott Hendrix, Tarron Richardson, David Hughes, David
Swanson, Heather Hill, Joe Hatter, Al Elias, Markell Henderson, Michele Vineyard. Others present:
Brian Wheeler, Sara Butler, Lisa Burch.

Call to Order
Jason Vandever called the meeting to order at 8:33 AM.

Approval of Minutes
The minutes from the July 2020 meeting were approved unanimously.

Introduction of New Employee
Lisa Burch was introduced to the commission. She is a new hire in the Human Resources Department
with her focus to be on the City’s retirement plans.

Upcoming meetings
Jason Vandever presented an overview of upcoming meeting topics through December 2020. He
noted that the subcommittee on sustainability has not been able to meet since February 2020 because
of the mandate that the Retirement Commission meet only one time per month.

Other Business
The floor was opened to a discussion of sustainable investing. A motion was made by David
Swanson to divest 25 fossil fuel companies and 25 weapons manufacturers from the portfolio of the
plan. The motion was not seconded. After some discussion, David Swanson resigned from the
Retirement Commission effective immediately.

The remaining members of the Retirement Commission continued to discuss how to approach
sustainable investing. A consensus was reached to obtain more information regarding this issue from
Dahab Consulting at the next meeting.

A community member named Jake Gold addressed the Retirement Commission about the retirement
portion of the police budget. Jason Vandever answered the question.
