The meeting was called to order at 12:10 p.m.

Introductions:
The board welcomed guests, Keely and Jessica, student interns with the department.

Public Comment:
None

Members’ Report:
Ms. Gough shared that the buddy benches dedication ceremony has been moved to Johnson Elementary School.
The ceremony will be held in the auditorium if there is rain.

Ms. Key shared that Common Grounds offers free services every Tuesday from 9-12 to help people heal from the
events on August 12th.

Ms. Menning shared that Heal Cville still has funds available and asked everyone to pass along to those who may
need assistance.

Approval of Meeting Minutes:
The April minutes were approved as submitted

Chair’s Report:
Ms. Gough thanked everyone for adjusting their schedules to meet on Tuesday.

Director’s Report:
Annual Report: Ms. Kuknyo reminded everyone that the annual report to city council will be presented in
September and asked that the subcommittee meet in the upcoming weeks to discuss the report. Ms. Kuknyo
reviewed items to potentially include in the annual report to city council. These include:
     Medicaid Expansion. At this time it still is not known if this will pass or not. If it is passed, it would not
       go into effect for six months to allow time to get everything into place.
     Families First Funding for Foster Care Prevention Services. This will go into effect in October 2019.

       Vacancies, Retention, & Recruitment. The department has filled some vacancies; but is struggling to fill
        them all. Pay and competition within the community are leading factors for this.

Federal Policy Change Proposal for Green Cards: Ms. Kuknyo shared that the President has proposed a change
to lawful immigrants seeking permanent residency in the United States. Immigrants could be passed over for a
green card if they are using government supported health care and other non-cash government benefits. This
includes services received for their children as well.

The next board meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 25, 2018 in the City Hall Basement Conference
Room.
